Designing and development of a puppet

Step 1
Our process begins with a photo or sketch of the character needed and based on the style of puppet, a clay mold is fabricated of the character to be built. From the clay mold a pattern is made and perfected for the demensions desired.
Step 2
The puppet pattern is then cut out of foam and bonded together to create the head, torso, legs, arms, etc. Puppet access to the head and mouth may vary according to the design build of the puppet. A simular process is repeated for the fleece or fur skin covering for all body parts.
Step 3
Once the fleece skin is patterned it is then sewn and applied to the foam body along with mouth inserts and a long neck sleeve to cover the puppeteer's arm during performance. The head and body are designed as two parts to aid in mouth operation, and wardrobe changes if needed.
Step 4
When all the parts are completed and assembled the puppets character is critique by adding its eyes, hair, etc. These are the final finishes that give the character life!
Step 5
Depending on the type of character it may have fleece skin or a fur body. Some puppets may have outer wear such as clothing, shoes or accessories to complete its final piece.
Step 6
Each puppet is checked for any imperfection that may had occured during construction and tested for functionality. On final approval it is then prepared for shipment to its new owner.
